Islamic Garden

Project Gallery

Project Description

This garden is a contemporary interpretation of the landscape traditions of Mughal India, adapted to the plants, climate, and culture of Alberta. The design required extensive masonry structures to create the garden beds, walks, terraces and open pavilions. The featured Canadian granites and limestones are deployed through both traditional patterns and modern detailing. The design required rigorous attention to quality installation and precise installation. In addition to the extensive paving and walls, there are multiple garden features, fountains, and special moments where skilled fabrication and installation of stone elements were required. The result is a truly unique garden unlike any other in North America and one that celebrates the qualities of Canadian stone and masonry craft in Alberta.
